Study from Dr. Lazar ended

The online-study on IC/BPS and its implications on sexuality and partnership was completed by the end of 2007. A considerable number of female patients have participated and I would like to thank all of them for the efforts taken. My special thanks go to Mrs. and Mr. Hensen who supported me with this study in every possible way.

The results of the study are very interesting and can be seen in the attached powerpoint-presentation [300 KB] (PDF). Comments and further ideas [17 KB] are appreciated.

Yours faithfully,
Dr. Dara Lazar

No new Name for IC

ICA-Deutschland Statement
The abolition of the term "Interstitial Cystitis" has a completely different scope and consequences which the members of the medical advisory board of Förderverein ICA-Deutschland e.V. expressly disassociate themselves from. If the term IC were to be abolished, many efforts would have to start again from scratch. A new coinage for "Interstitial Cystitis" should be reserved for the day on which the underlying causes of this disease have at last have been clarified. Whether we really do our patients a favour with the diagnosis of for instance a "bladder pain syndrome X3" is at least in doubt. We should not suggest to our patients that the disease which they may have been suffering from for several years, no longer exists according to the current terminology. Namensänderung der IC?

The ICA Germany and the predominant majority of the advisory board have no intention to change the name of “interstitial cystitis” (IC) as there is no reason for such an action.
